Figurative sculpture created in VR with Shapebrush then imported into Openbrush to create the environment and elements... based on another unfinished painting from years ago...
There is something about the VR environment that can sweep a viewer into another place, like a portal. This piece is focused on creating an environment that would be a serene quiet place to sit in solitude.
The creative process of building something in VR is much like daydreaming... it takes you away to another world where you can get lost in thought...
I finally figured out how to use the sculptures I create in VR with Shapelab in Openbrush! One thing Openbrush does not do at this point is allow the user to create form and shape in a sculptural manner... it is a painting program so you need to use "brush strokes" in order to build the illusion of form... I have been using Shapelab to sculpt in VR and have finally figured out how to import objects from one into the other.
This piece was created during a moment when absolute solitude felt necessary... I was on people overload and needed to get away.
One hour time limit, last minute theme: "Invent your own Creature"... I let myself just play with the idea until something showed up - no judgement, no concept or plan - just play.
Open Brush, formerly Tilt Brush VR painting program, is fantastic for creative expression, but a challenge for sculpture and refined shape... This piece is created by layers of "brush strokes" using the ink brush.
